I have to say I disagree. Listening to an album is all about the music. A stage show is a more complete package. You want charisma, presence, adrenalin, passion and a whole lot of things that complement the music and make the stage show different from the album. Otherwise you might as well sit at home drinking warm beer that you paid 4 times as much as usual for with the stereo turned up loud enough to break your eardrums.

No way Bassman! You need some sort of performance. Even if it like Van Morrisson - being grumpy and ignoring the crowd.

Linkin Park have great songs and a very tight band live. What impressed me most when I saw them was the quality of the playing. Having said that, they did come on after The Darkness and they couldn't play for shite.

I agree with Bassman a little. The music does have to be good. I couldn't imagine Elton John being good live (from my point of view) because I'm not a fan of his music, but when you pay £30-£75 for a gig, you expect a good stage show on top of quality music

Music must come first but there must be some sort of stage show or presentation to make it worth going to. I have seen about 20 bands from Friday to Monday. Kiss and Iggy and the Stooges were the best of the lot.

I've seen Elton John and the emphasis of his show is the songs and the playing. He has a great group of players - most of them have been with him for years.

There were some flashing lights at the end but this was just the icing on the cake.
